If anyone is (still) interested, I started the instance with event 10046 set to level 12 and reran my test.

Made not a jot of difference - the trace files don't show whether the extending was done in one shot or not.
There is a single update of TAB$ and one update of OBJ$ so I suspect that a single +64KB resize was done.

Mind you, the bind variable values look a bit suspicious to me anyway in the raw trace file.

Oh well, never mind.
