I would agree. I have failed three attempts with a fresh install and trying to apply patch 8.1.5.1.0 and i cannot seem to get it to work... i keep getting a shared library error... something like lib....so.8.0 and i cant start the lsnrctl tool at all...

so i give up... i am now going to try to run it without any patches... i hope it works... i am creating the database with dbassist right now and it is 99% complete... i get a username/password error when i try to connect with net8 assistant from windows NT ... i think that is probably just because i havent added an entry to my /etc/oratab???
