Oracle Agent (NT) and ORCL

I have been trying to set up OracleAgent 8.0.4 on our NT server. But it kept crashing anytime any of the databases on the server was shut (or was already shut when I started the Agent service). I noticed a file called sqlnet in orant\net80\Agent was generated just before the agent crashed. In here it logged that DBSNMP.EXE was trying to connect to ORCL by the BEQ protocol. It failed because I'd got rid of the default ORCL database a while ago. It does not appear in the Listener.ora or Tnsnames.ora files either.
After reinstalling ORCL from the distribution CD, the Agent seemed to be much happier and would let my databases go up and down without crashing. My question is, what does the agent need in terms of database support and how can I provide this in one of my "real databases" and tell it to use that instead? Or is it good practice to keep the ORCL database - it appears in the Registry quite a lot (even before I reinstalled it) relating to parameters I don't have a clue about!

Any advice would be much appreciated.

Thanks,
